Le Train Bleu

As sad as it was to say au revoir to Paris we knew we'd be back at the end of the month and it was time to head to Provence.

With time to spare at Gare de Lyon we struggled with our cases up the stairs to Le Train Bleu for a little treat before the journey south (how was it possible our cases seemed to weigh twice as much as when we'd left Tullamarine 7 days ago - had Colin the webbed fingered dwarf somehow smuggled himself inside?).

Our waitress came to take our order & must have thought we were a little simple as when she mentioned Mille Feuille we stopped her in her tracks wanting to hear nothing further.  We both did a little clap & it was a good thing we were sitting as if we were standing the clap would have translated to a girlie skip or booty shake which may have been frowned upon in Le Train Bleu - it's quite fancy.  You really feel you've stepped back in time as it has a lovely old world feel to it, with its tiredness only adding to its charm.

We absolutely love Mille Feuilles to the point where I named my last holiday The Mille Feuille Tour 2012.  Much research & many lady hours have gone into this project & we've come to the conclusion our absolute favourite is the most basic variety...no flavour / fruit filling & definitely no icing.  That was our No. 1 rule going forward, basic variety only.

We chose salted caramel.  In our defence it was today's selection so really our hands were tied.

Merci beaucoup Salted Caramel as you've taught us something about ourselves - we really don't discriminate.

You'll always have a special place in our hearts. x
